ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the incidence of atherosclerotic renal artery stenosis (ARAS), the relationship between ARAS and cerebral artery stenosis, and the risk of ARAS in patients with brain infarction. Methods The clinical data of 1 650 brain infarction patients were analyzed, which were carried out digital subtraction angiography(DSA) of cerebral and renal artery. The incidence of ARAS was counted out, and the relationship was analyzed between the different degree and number of cerebral artery stenosis and the rate of RAS. The demographic characteristics and the common risk factors of atherosclerosis were recorded, and the risk factors of ARAS were analyzed. Results The rate of ARAS in moderate stenosis group and severe stenosis and occlusion group of cerebral artery were all significantly higher than that in mild stenosis group and no stenosis group (all P < 0.01). The rates of ARAS in severe stenosis and occlusion group were significantly significantly higher than those in moderate stenosis group (P < 0.01). The rates of ARAS in 2 branch stenosis group and ≥3 branch stenosis group were both significantly higher than those in no stenosis group and 1 branch stenosis group (P < 0.01). The rates of ARAS of ≥3 branch stenosis group were significantly higher than those in 2 branch stenosis group (P<0.05). The rate of ARAS of 1 branch stenosis group were significantly higher than those in no stenosis group (P < 0.05). Age, hypertension, moderate or more artery stenosis or occlusion, and≥2 branch stenosis was independent risk factor of ARAS. Conclusions The incidence of ARAS increasesd with the increase of the degree of cerebral artery stenosis and the number of branch involved.Older age, hypertension, moderate or more artery stenosis or occlusion, and≥2 branch stenosis is risk factor for ARAS.

ABSTRACT

To explore the incidence and risk factors for spontaneous hemorrhagic transformation (HT) of cardioembolism (CE,n =150) and large artery atherosclerotic infarction (LAA,n =370).The incidence of HT was 29.3% in CE.And it was significantly higher than 9.7% (P <0.05).Infarct size,low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) and admission National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score were independent predictors of spontaneous hemorrhagic transformation in LAA.OR values were 3.92,2.96 and 1.45 respectively.Infarct size, admission NIHSS score and random blood glucose level were independent predictors of spontaneous hemorrhagic transformation in CE.OR values were 4.86,2.42 and 1.42 respectively. As compared with LAA,CE was more prone to HT.LAA and CE-related factors of hemorrhagic transformation are not completely identical.

ABSTRACT

A case of methamphetamine-related cerebral infarction was reported and the relevant databases of CBMdisc and Medline were searched.Among 14 cases of ischemic stroke , the ratio of male:female was 9∶5 and the age range 19-45 years. There were anterior circulation lesions ( n=13,92.8%) and 10 of them (71.3%) had cerebral vascular occlusion or stenosis. And the predominant manifestation was hemiplegia (85.7%);among 34 cases of hemorrhagic stroke ,the ratio of male: female was 12∶5 and the age range 16-60 years. And 28 cases (82%) were≤45 years.Cerebral hemorrhage was the most common (85%).The major manifestations were headache ( n =26, 76%) and disturbance of consciousness (n=21,62%).The methamphetamine-related stroke occurs frequently in young males. And ischemic stroke tends to involve anterior circulation and cause hemiplegia.Yet hemorrhagic stroke has extensive attack sites and headache and disturbance of consciousness are quite common.

ABSTRACT

@#ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of cinepazide maleate combined with venlafaxine on post-stroke depression.Methods60 stroke patients with post-stroke depression were divided into control group (n=30) and observation group (n=30). On the basis treatment, the control group was given venlafaxine, the observation group was given venlafaxine and maleate cinepazide injection. The course was 4 weeks. The two groups were assessed with Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD) and modified Barthel Index(MBI) before and after treatment.ResultsThe observation group improved better than the control group (P<0 05) even in HAMD and MBI 4 weeks after treatment(P<0.01).ConclusionCinepazide maleate combined with venlafaxine may be more effective on post-stroke depression to improve depressive symptoms, and the activities of daily living.

ABSTRACT

@# ObjectiveTo evaluate the enteral nutritional schemes for patients with acute cerebral infarction in effectiveness and economy. Methods117 acute cerebral infarction patients with dysphagia were divided into 3 groups. Homogenized diet, sequential intestinal nutrition and intestinal integral protein were provided respectively for these groups by nasogastric tube feeding. The clinical effectiveness was evaluated and the cost-effectiveness analysis was done pharmacoeconomically 14 d later. ResultsThe effective rates of these schemes were 42.5%, 75% and 49%, while the cost-effectiveness ratios were 9.84, 29.37, 42.16 respectively. ConclusionFor the acute cerebral infarction patients with dysphagia, the scheme of sequential intestinal nutrition is most effective, and the homogenize diet is most economical.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective To investigate the clinical effect of resuscitating acupuncture and scalp acupuncture on neurological function and high sensitivity C reactive protein (hs-CRP) in serum in patients with acute cerebral infarction. Methods 90 patients with acute cerebral infarction were divided into three groups: drug, routine acupuncture and resuscitating acupuncture and scalp acupuncture groups in random. They were evaluated with NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) , Modified Rankin Scale (MRS) 0, 7, 14 d after treatment, and measured with the levels of hs-CRP. Results There were significant improvements for NIHSS and MRS scores in the resuscitating acupuncture and scalp acupuncture group compared with those of the others, as well as the levels of hs-CRP. Conclusion Resuscitating acupuncture and scalp acupuncture can reduce the level of hs-CRP and improve the neurological functions in patients with acute cerebral infarction.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To review literature reports of varieties of ADRs induced by mebendazole to provide a sci- entific foundation for clinical revaluation of mebendazole.Method:The related literatures in the internal and external medi- cine medical database in 1994-2004 were explored, and then both analysis and statistics were conducted with the methods of epidemiolngy and literature analysis.Result:ADRs induced by mebendazole could be involved in multiple organs. Most victims were children and the elderly.Their latent periods were determined by the types of ADRs,which had a variety of forms. Conclusion:Mebendazole was potentially unsafe. So we should strengthen our rational drug use and post-marketing revaluation of safety.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To provide information for clinical rational and safe use of albendazole.METHODS: The medical database and network both at home and abroad were searched and the data regarding the research and development, the market information and indications of albendazole were analyzed.RESULTS & CONCLUSIONS: 5 dosage forms of albendazole are available in the market: tablets, capsules, granules, oral liquid, and syrup. The sales amount of albendazole in recent years dominated the first 3 places in domestic antiparasites market. There are a total of 39 domestic manufactures for albendazole, which can be used to treat 21 kinds of human parasitosis. Its clinical application is widespread. However, severe adverse drug reactions such as the rare encephalitis syndrome and allergic shock etc induced by albendazole pose hidden risks for treatment;therefore, management on its use should be strengthened.
